Fleur-de-lis Cake

Many moons ago, back in 2011, I made my first 8" round, 3 layer cake. In my head it turned out perfect, and according to Pinterest , I "nailed it". It sure did look like I tried to nail it...with a hammer! Ha.

Making the most of it, I melted the frosting and poured it over top. My mom was a good sport, and the cake tasted great, so we ate it anyway and went on with her birthday celebration. However, I was not easily defeated.

A couple years later, I would have never dreamed that I could do a birthday cake like this...much less get a birthday cake order! It is so exciting to see how every cake is better than the last, and very rewarding when you can make others happy with little things like a cake. That is not to say that I haven't had my share of fails, as I continue to do so occasionally. Nevertheless, my baking madness continues--which is now a journey that you too can be apart of, thanks to this little blog.

There's captions!! (I am so tech savvy.)
